Woody Herman Listed in Critical Condition

Share

Bandleader Woody Herman, 74, was taken Thursday morning to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where a spokesman said he was in critical condition and on a life-support system.

Herman’s attorney, Kirk Pasich, said the famed clarinetist was suffering from congestive heart failure, emphysema and pneumonia.

Herman’s financial problems as the result of long-standing indebtedness to the Internal Revenue Service recently stirred widespread public sympathy when the man who had bought the musician’s Hollywood Hills home at an IRS auction was attempting to evict him for non-payment of rent.
