The Consumer Product Safety Commission postponed a decision on whether to ban lawn darts, metal-tipped toys that have been responsible for at least 6,100 injuries in the last eight years. Instead, the three-member commission voted unanimously to monitor industry compliance with voluntary standards requiring more conspicuous warning labels. The panel will decide in three months whether to make those standards mandatory or to ban lawn darts altogether.
