Sen. Wilson

Share

Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) never read an arms control treaty he could abide nor did he ever encounter a nuclear weapon system which he didn’t embrace.

In his long-winded column, (Op-Ed Page, Sept. 25), he finds every possible reason to oppose even the modest gain of reducing the world’s menacing nuclear arsenal by a meager 4%. The good senator from McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell International sees any argument in favor of reducing the danger of nuclear weapons as a threat to his constituents.

I would like to remind the good senator that the only good nuclear war is the one that never happened and the only logical conclusion of an unending nuclear arms race is a world (less safe than the one we live in) closer to the brink of mutual annihilation than we are right now.
