Fox Plaza Entrance

Sam Hall Kaplan’s column on Fox Plaza (Sept. 20) was right on. Many of us see this building with its impressive skin and top as magnificent.

In addition to the structural flaws you discuss, there are other systems that should be recognized and mentioned where appropriate.

There is one prominent California builder whose excellent buildings, architecturally, have plumbing systems only one level above slum landlord. There are many, many buildings that have air-conditioning systems that mimic Class B motels. As for lighting, we go from garish and glaring to peculiar, even in the offices. The reason for most of these is that there is not one critic of any renown commenting on these.

Perhaps Kaplan can add some of these items to your list. We spend so little time viewing the exterior and lobbies and so much with the others.
