A B-52 strategic bomber made an emergency landing here early today after it was hit by shots from a small-caliber weapon on the ground, the Air Force said.

One bullet severed a hydraulic line in the left front wheel well of the bomber, but the crew was able to steer the aircraft and land safely. A spokesman said no one was injured and there was minimal damage to the Strategic Air Command bomber, which usually carriers nuclear bombs.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is investigating.
