Marvin Bush, son of Vice President George Bush, was in fair condition Wednesday following “elective abdominal surgery,” a Georgetown University Hospital spokeswoman said.

Bush, 30, was admitted to the hospital Sunday and “he is in fair condition. . . . His progress is good,” following surgery Monday, spokeswoman Cynthia Byers said.

The Houston Post reported Wednesday that Bush has suffered from colitis, a chronic inflammation of the colon, and had surgery in 1986 to remove part of his colon.
