Controls on Japanese Land Deals Proposed

From Reuters

Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party called Wednesday for strict controls on land deals to slow down rocketing land prices, party officials said.

They said a party committee proposed increased taxes on land ownership and curbs on certain sales. Residential land prices in central Tokyo have jumped 93% in the last year, and office real estate by 79%.
