Local News in Brief : Man Using Cap Gun Held
A transient “messing around” with a cap gun outside a West Hollywood hot dog stand was arrested at gunpoint and booked on suspicion of a misdemeanor offense under a new city law, authorities said.
While standing in front of Danny’s Oki Dogs at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vista Street about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Guy Standefer, 21, shot a realistic replica of a .38-caliber snub-nose revolver at customers at an Astro Burger across the street, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
“He was only, to use his words, ‘messing around,’ ” Lt. Bob Malone said. “He just didn’t know what he was getting into.”
Standefer was booked on suspicion of brandishing a replica firearm, a crime under an ordinance adopted Sept. 21 by the City Council.
