Humana’s earnings were up 235% to $182.8 million for the year ended Aug. 31. The Louisville, Ky.-based health-care company reported earnings of $47.5 million in the fourth quarter, contrasted with a year-ago deficit of $108 million. Profit in 1986 was hit by special charges of $130.6 million from losses on the company’s insurance plan, Humana Care Plus, and its walk-in medical centers called Medfirst.
