One man was killed and another was wounded in an apparently random shooting at a busy intersection in downtown Sacramento, police said. The gunman poked a rifle out a side window of his car while stopped at 8th and J streets, four blocks from the state Capitol, and fired several shots at a group of pedestrians starting into a crosswalk, Sgt. Bob Burns said. An elderly man, who was not identified, was killed. The injured man suffered a minor neck wound. A witness said about four shots were fired from a white 1979 Ford Thunderbird before it sped away. “It was pretty wild,” Kevin Brown, 20, said. “There were people behind them (the victims) waiting to cross the street. They just scattered. . . . People were just running around trying to get out of the way.”
