Alhambra : Pact for Paramedic Service
The City Council has approved an agreement with the union representing city firefighters which clears the way for the city to establish a paramedic service in the Fire Department.
City Manager Kevin Murphy said the service will begin in April. Residents will have the option of paying a subscription fee to cover paramedic service or being billed each time the service is used.
The agreement between the city and the Alhambra Fire Fighters Assn. provides that paramedics will be paid 13% more than firefighters and must sign an employment contract for three years.
