Southwestern Bell’s income grew 13.9% to $314.1 million for the third quarter, compared to the same quarter last year. The St. Louis-based company attributed part of the gain to the acquisition of cellular and paging properties and a change in the publication schedule for a number of directories produced by its Southwestern Bell Publications subsidiary.
