Defensive back Danny Walters of the San Diego Chargers pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing cocaine and driving under the influence of the drug. Walters was ordered to return to court next Friday in San Diego for a hearing.

Police stopped Walters, 25, early on the morning of Sept. 14 for allegedly driving erratically. A subsequent search by officers revealed 1.7 ounces of cocaine in his clothing, authorities said.
