Buena Park : Fire Department Offers ID Tags to Kids, Joggers

Share

Children and joggers--who often go out without identification--can benefit, along with safety-conscious individuals, in a Fire Department giveaway that could help them in an emergency, city officials said.

The department is handing out free Lifesaver Tags at all city fire stations. Emergency response personnel are being trained to look for the tags sewn into clothing or laced into shoes. Identification and vital medical information--written on the tags with a ballpoint pen--survive about 25 washings.

The city began giving away the tags during Fire Prevention Week but will continue the practice year around. The Lifesaver Tag Program recently won the Presidential Volunteer Action Award for Public Safety.
