President Reagan summoned the six Republican presidential contenders to the White House today then suddenly canceled the meeting because of the “stock market condition,” White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said.

Fitzwater would not say what business would have occupied the 30 minutes the President had allotted for meeting with Vice President George Bush, Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas, Delaware Gov. Pierre S. (Pete) du Pont IV, Pat Robertson, former Secretary of State Alexander Haid and Rep. Jack Kemp of New York.
