Colgate-Palmolive reported a net loss of $96.9 million for the third quarter of 1987, although the firm actually posted gains in operating results before reflecting a $150-million restructuring charge for organization and manufacturing reconfigurations announced on Oct. 14. Sales for the New York firm were $1.43 billion, up 12%. Before the restructuring charge, pretax operating income rose 17%. The after-tax equivalent increased 11% because of a higher tax rate.
