Multicounty Bookmaking Probe Results in Arrests of Three Men
Three men have been arrested on gambling charges after a multijurisdictional investigation into alleged bookmaking activities in Orange and Riverside counties, the district attorney’s office announced Thursday.
Those arrested Wednesday were Joseph Gregory Sestito, 52, of Tustin; Martin P. Kane, 66, of Palm Desert, and Patrick T. McCormick, 53, also of Palm Desert.
Orange County Deputy Dist. Atty. Martin G. Engquist said in a statement released Thursday that information uncovered by investigators revealed that the three were involved in an organization with direct ties to Nevada gambling interests. The organization, he said, was responsible for illegal sports betting of several million dollars each week.
The investigation involved officials from the district attorney’s office, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the police departments of Orange, Santa Ana and Tustin.
