Tear Gas Subdues Unruly New Hampshire Convicts

CONCORD, N.H. —
Guards early Saturday fired tear gas into a medium-security unit at the New Hampshire State Prison and ended a vandalism rampage by 40 prisoners, a prison spokeswoman said. The disturbance broke out after the prisoners failed an inspection Friday afternoon and refused to do cleanup work, officials said. No injuries were reported.
