Turkey is seeking foreign partners to jointly produce missile systems and helicopters in a multibillion-dollar drive to modernize its armed forces, defense industry sources said in Ankara. The nation is co-producing U.S.-designed F-16 fighters and has sought tenders for military mobile radar systems. Turkey, bordering the Soviet Union, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Bulgaria, has the second-largest armed forces in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
