Du Pont’s income rose 32% to $452 million in the third quarter. The Wilmington, Del., company cited strong performances by a number of segments, notably fibers, agricultural and industrial chemicals and coal, and substantially improved results from petroleum. The quarter also included a gain of $31 million from the sale of a chlorine and caustic soda production facility in Corpus Christi, Tex.
