The Dominica government has scrapped plans to build a carton-manuafacturing plant that would have endangered St. Lucia’s Winera box factory, Prime Minister John Compton said.

“We have since had a written assurance from the Dominica government that they are not proceeding with the operation,” Compton said at a news conference.

The plant would have harmed the operations of the Winera plant, which supplies cardboard boxes for banana producers in St. Lucia, Dominica and Grenada.
