AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Whoops--we almost forgot. The Bangles are taking time off from all those enticing sound-track projects to start work on a new album of their own. After meeting with several candidates, the band picked producer Davitt Sigerson, who handled one of last year’s best debut albums, David & David’s “Boomtown.” . . . On the signings front: Peter Wolf, who made a couple of solo records at EMI, has moved to MCA Records, where he’ll begin work on a new album later this year. . . .

Eurythmics has postponed a proposed live album and has instead put together a new studio record, “Savage,” which is due out in early December from RCA Records. The first single here is “I Need a Man.” RCA is releasing “Beethoven (I Love to Listen to)” as the group’s first single in Britain. The album is a bona fide Dave Stewart tour de force. Not only did he play all the instruments, but the record was recorded at the same French chateau where Stewart was married this summer.
