A U.S. magistrate denied bail to a computer programmer for a Sunnyvale firm charged with plotting to sell computer technology to the Soviet Union. U.S. Magistrate Patricia H. Trumbell ruled that Kevin Anderson, 36, was a “serious flight risk.” The U.S. Customs Service charged that Anderson, Ivan Pierre Batinic, 29, and his brother, Stevan Batinic, 30, both of Mountain View, conspired with fugitive exporter Charles McVey to sell sophisticated computer technology to the Soviet Union. The brothers are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 5. Federal officials said the technology developed by Saxpy Computer Corp. of Sunnyvale would have made it possible for the Soviets to develop a computer that could neutralize American missiles entering Soviet airspace.
