Datron Systems Posts 27% 2nd-Quarter Gain

Datron Systems said its fiscal second-quarter profit climbed 27% from a year ago on a 41% sales gain.

The Simi Valley maker of communications and defense electronic equipment said net income, boosted by a lower effective tax rate, totaled $452,000, or 16 cents a share, in the three months ending Sept. 30, up from $357,000, or 13 cents a share, a year earlier.

Sales rose from $5.2 million to $7.4 million.

For the first half of its fiscal year, Datron’s earnings increased 24% to $830,000, or 30 cents a share, from $669,000, or 25 cents a share, a year ago. Six-month sales jumped 41%, to $14.5 million from $10.3 million.
