Boris Vlasov Jr.; Shipping Firm Chief
Boris Vlasov Jr., 74, head of the V Group of shipping companies that includes Sitmar Cruises of Los Angeles. Founded by Vlasov’s father, Boris Sr., in the 1930s, V Group grew to become one of the largest independent shipping companies in the world and one of the largest owners of ships flying the British flag. Under Boris Vlasov Jr. the group concentrated on U.S. and Australia-Asia passenger-cruise markets. Monday in a Tokyo hospital while undergoing treatment for cancer.
