An Oakland Superior Court jury recommended the death penalty for a drug abuser convicted in the fatal shooting of an East Oakland jeweler and his young son. Michael Hill, 32, a cocaine abuser and dealer, was convicted last month of the shooting death of Anthony Brice Sr., 32, and Anthony Brice Jr., 3, in August, 1985. The panel of six women and six men deliberated three hours and 45 minutes over two days before deciding to recommend the death penalty for Hill. They had the choice of the death penalty or a term of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
