Doctors in Midland, Tex., operated on Jessica McClure, amputating the little toe on her right foot and inserting special skin stretchers on her forehead to repair a wound she suffered when trapped for 58 hours in a dry water well. The 19-month-old girl’s first plastic surgery lasted about four hours, hospital spokeswoman Sue Ristom said. She said doctors will decide later whether to remove the big toe on the foot, which suffered reduced blood circulation when wedged into the well during the girl’s ordeal. Jessica was rescued from the well Oct. 16.
