England’s stage-struck Prince Edward, 23, has been named president of Britain’s National Youth Music Theatre, which features plays performed by 11- to 18-year-olds. An enthusiastic amateur actor who forsook a career in the Royal Marines in January, Edward dropped in at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre on Wednesday to watch a young cast perform Benjamin Britten’s “The Ragged Child.” Jeremy Taylor, artistic director of the Youth Music Theatre, told Edward that his interest in the performing arts “will be a very great spur and inspiration to us.”
