About 1,000 extra seats will be in place in San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium beginning with the Chargers’ Nov. 15 nationally televised 5 p.m. game against the Raiders, Charger officials announced Thursday.

The seats are at field level in the west end zone, and represent the first phase of the Super Bowl expansion project that will eventually improve the stadium’s capacity from 59,700 to 73,000.

Tickets for 500 of the new seats will be on sale at 8 a.m. today for $14 per seat, the Chargers’ lowest-priced ticket. The remaining tickets will be given to what the Chargers call participant personnel such as band members and bus drivers.

There are also 600 to 700 regular tickets remaining for the Raider game, and 1,500 remaining for a Nov. 29 game against Denver. Any extra seats will not count in determining whether a television blackout will be lifted because of a sellout.
