Local News in Brief : Retailer Target of Threat
The president of the California Retailers Assn. has been targeted as the “prime enemy” of a campaign for a $5.01 minimum wage and may face “direct Action”--possibly a boycott against his grocery chain--if he does not endorse the proposal by Nov. 14, campaign leaders said Friday in Los Angeles.
Byron Allumbaugh, chairman of Ralph’s Grocery Co. was targeted because he is president of the association that “has been vigorously involved” in fighting the $5.01 proposal, said Rev. John Seymour, leader of the South-Central Organizing Committee and pastor of Ascension Church in Los Angeles.
