Brian Head Ski Resort Sale to Town Delayed

Negotiations for the sale of the Brian Head Ski Resort to the town have bogged down but the proposal is still very much alive, Mayor Michael G. Golden said last week.

Golden said he had hoped to present the proposal to the town council on Sept. 22, but legal matters still to be resolved could cause postponement to some time next year. In the meantime, Brian Head Enterprises Inc., headed by Burton K. Nichols, could open the $12-million ski resort before Thanksgiving, depending on snow depths, and will operate it throughout the season.

Nichols announced that he plans to sell the facilities to contractor Steve Gilbert of Brian Head, who said he, in turn, would assign his position in the purchase agreement to the town. Gilb1701999660council, said he would be acting as a private individual in the purchase.
