Dominion Textile Inc. has purchased Burlington Industries’ Erwin, N.C., denim plant for $205 million. Dominion had been working with New York financier Asher B. Edelman to try to acquire Burlington since early this year but was stymied in its takeover efforts when the textile giant went private. Burlington said it would continue to be a leading producer of a broad range of denim products through the other two plants in its U.S. denim division. The Erwin plant employs 1,200 people. While the sale is expected to involve some transfers of workers, no layoffs are anticipated.
