The Iran-Contra committees in their final report criticize the Administration for failing to act against individuals who violated security regulations, and they call for “uniform enforcement” in the future, congressional sources told the Washington Post. Although they are not named, the targets of the language are Lt. Col. Oliver L. North and Rear Adm. John M. Poindexter, who still have security clearances giving them access to classified materials despite admissions during the Iran-Contra hearings that they destroyed such documents, Pentagon sources said. Despite these admissions, neither the Department of Defense nor the Navy Department has so far taken steps to review either man’s security clearances.
