Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev apparently does not plan an extended stay in the United States and is expected to arrive in Washington late in the day Dec. 7, hold three days of working meetings with President Reagan beginning Dec. 8 and depart Dec. 10, the White House said today.

Giving a preliminary schedule for the Reagan-Gorbachev summit, presidential spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said, “The Soviet team indicated some amusement at the stories of an extended stay and did not give any indication that would be the case.” Several published reports earlier this week said Gorbachev was seriously considering staying longer.
