Andrea Palma; Star of Mexican Films

Andrea Palma, 81, a leading star during the richest years of the Mexican movie industry. Miss Palma, whose real name was Guadalupe Bracho, was the sister of two other famous Mexican cinematographical figures--director Julio Bracho and scene designer Jesus Bracho. Her first movie in 1933, “La Mujer Del Puerto” (The Woman From the Port), directed by brother Julio, was an instant success. Others included “Hermanos” (Brothers) and “Aventurera” (Adventuress), a biography of Sister Juana Ines de la Cruz, a leading Mexican poet. Miss Palma and her husband, the late Spanish actor Enrique Diaz Quintanilla, lived for several years in Los Angeles, where she designed, made and sold ornate Mexican hats.
