Lewis Lyon; Patent Attorney

Lewis E. Lyon, 87, one of five brothers who joined their father to found the Los Angeles law firm of Lyon & Lyon in the 1920s. Their father, Frederick S. Lyon, came to Los Angeles in 1901 and established a firm specializing in patent and trademark law. His sons joined the firm throughout the decade of the ‘20s. The firm came to include as many as 70 attorneys, 12 of them from the family. The firm represented Hughes Tool Co. in various patent suits and Lewis Lyon became Howard Hughes’ personal attorney for several years after the younger Hughes took over the tool company on the death of his father. In Honolulu on Nov. 8.
