SAN FRANCISCO — The Supreme Court on Thursday sent the contempt case of a Contra Costa Times reporter who refused to answer a judge’s questions in a death penalty case back to the state Court of Appeal, which earlier rejected her petition for a hearing.
Erin Hallissy, 29, faces a jail sentence for refusing to cooperate with a Mount Diablo municipal judge who found her in contempt after she refused to answers questions about her jail interview with triple murder defendant John Sapp.
The high court also extended its Oct. 27 stay of her jail sentence until the legal issues in the case are resolved.
