A convicted child molester must place signs with three-inch letters on his house and car reading: “Dangerous Sex Offender. No Children Allowed,” the Oregon Court of Appeals said in Salem. The appeals court lifted an emergency stay of a court order requiring Richard Bateman, 47, of Portland to post the signs as a condition of his probation. Bateman, who has a prior conviction for sexual abuse of children, pleaded no contest in June to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of young boys and girls. He was released from jail Nov. 5.
