State police have been asked to investigate allegations that a high school basketball player was given this choice: “Play at South Carolina or see your brother put in jail for life.”
According to a report by the Columbia Record, attorney James Anders has asked the State Law Enforcement Division to look into charges that a judge and others put pressure on Stanley Roberts’ family to force him to attend South Carolina. Roberts’ brother, John Wayne Roberts, has been charged with the murder of a Richland County man in April.
Roberts, a Lower Richland High School star, has since signed a letter of intent with Louisiana State.
