Former White House aide Michael K. Deaver was released from Georgetown University Hospital in Washington “in good shape” after surgery to remove a kidney stone and is expected to resume his perjury trial Wednesday. Deaver, on trial on five counts of lying to Congress and a grand jury investigating his lobbying activities after his departure from the White House in May, 1985, underwent surgery last Friday to remove a lodged kidney stone, a hospital spokeswoman said. Randall Turk, one of Deaver’s defense attorneys, said the former deputy White House chief of staff should be recovered enough to appear in court Wednesday. U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson had recessed Deaver’s trial until that time.
