Bypass Surgery for Betty Ford

RANCHO MIRAGE —
Former First Lady Betty Ford entered Eisenhower Medical Center today to undergo elective coronary artery bypass surgery, a spokeswoman said.
Mrs. Ford, 69, wife of former President Gerald R. Ford, is “doing real well and in good spirits,” spokeswoman Ann Cullen said. Surgery is scheduled for Friday. President Ford was out of town but expected to arrive later in the day to be with his wife.
