“Project X” hasn’t lived up to predictions of Top Fivedom. The movie, about the misuse of chimps in a top-secret project, debuted strong last week at No. 9 on the Billboard magazine rental chart, but went south--to No. 11. “Tin Men” (No. 4) is the newest comedy entry in a Top 10 list top heavy with comedies. Others--”Blind Date” (No. 6), “Mannequin” (No. 7), “Raising Arizona” (No. 8) and “Burglar” (No. 9)--continue to do well. “Lady and the Tramp” is still No. 1 on the sales chart, which measures sales to retailers and distributors. Other sales charts: “Lady and the Tramp” and “An American Tail” top the kidvid chart; “Jane Fonda’s Low Impact Aerobic Workout” and “Callanetics” are the health and fitness chart leaders.

* “River’s Edge,” starring Crispin Glover and Ione Skye, got great reviews but didn’t do well at the box office. However, the teen drama was expected to do well with younger renters and, so far, it’s lived up to expectations--jumping from No. 22 to No. 10 in its second week on the rental chart.
