Builder Picked for Park in Walnut
A new six-acre park southeast of Walnut should be opened by May 1 under a construction contract awarded Tuesday by the County Board of Supervisors.
Terra-Cal Construction Inc. of Baldwin Hills, the lowest of nine bidders, should begin work on the $700,000 Ronald Reagan Park at 2001 S. Peaceful Hills Road by January.
The site is north of Pathfinder Road, just west of the Orange Freeway.
The park will have three lighted tennis courts, a handball court, a children’s play area and a picnic area.
Terra-Cal was awarded the project’s largest construction contract with a bid 10% greater than the architect’s estimate. Bids ranged from Terra-Cal’s $548,000 to $610,000.
