China has halted international sales of Silkworm missiles, which Iran has used against U.S. shipping in the Persian Gulf, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said in Beijing. Washington has accused China of selling surface-to-surface Silkworm missiles to Iran, including one that hit an American re-flagged tanker last month. Washington believes Iran has more than 30 of these missiles. Beijing assured visiting Under Secretary of State Michael H. Armacost on Nov. 3 that China would take measures to prevent the “diversion” of Silkworms to Iran.
