A San Jose man convicted of murdering an 84-year-old widow after he conned her into adopting him was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison. During the San Jose Superior Court trial Ebrahim Sadeghy, was portrayed as a con man who made wealthy Myrtle Reid think he was a doctor. According to court testimony, Sadeghy persuaded Reid, who suffered from numerous ailments, to stop taking medication prescribed by her real doctor. Sadeghy also was found guilty of perjury and unauthorized practice of medicine.
