Ever want to get away from it all? Just escape? How about scenic, romantic . . . Los Angeles?
That’s just one of the “getaways”--along with Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm--listed in the new Smart Yellow Pages. Pacific Bell has been depositing the redesigned telephone directories on doorsteps in north and central Orange County for the last two weeks.
If nothing else, the new books are extensive. The 5 1/2-pound tomes have “community access” sections up front listing everything from Orange County’s shopping malls to Anaheim Stadium’s seating capacity. Zippy graphics illustrate a listing of 68 “nightlife” spots and community event calendars that include such soirees as the Huntington Beach Huck Finn Fishing Derby.
The “Smart” directories--with their copyrighted name and format--are Pac Bell’s answer to the many competing directories that seem to appear just about every week.
About 847,000 copies of the punchier product will be distributed in the north and south parts of Orange County. South Orange County’s “Smart” books are scheduled to be delivered in April, 1988.
