An Amsterdam theater school Monday canceled all public performances of “Rubbish, the City and Death,” a controversial play by late German film maker Rainer Werner Fassbinder, bowing to pressure from Jewish activists who claimed it promoted anti-Semitism, Reuters reported. Last week, the European premiere of the play was canceled moments before the curtain went up, when protesters stormed the stage. “Having taken everything into consideration, the director, actors and producer have decided against public performances,” said Paul Sonke, director of the Amsterdam Theatre School.
