Trio-Tech International reported a loss of $261,000, or 10 cents a share, for the first quarter ended Sept. 25, contrasted with a profit of $24,000, or 1 cent a share, a year earlier. Revenue was down 18% to $3.5 million, contrasted with $4.3 million a year earlier.
The San Fernando maker of semiconductor-testing equipment blamed the loss on reduced demand for its products because of the slump in the semiconductor industry. However, President A. Charles Wilson said he expects the company to become profitable again in the next quarter.
