The former president of Home State Savings Bank had his prison sentence reduced in return for guilty pleas to four charges resulting from the Cincinnati-based thrift’s 1985 collapse. Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Richard Niehaus suspended the balance of Burton M. Bongard’s 10-year prison sentence, imposed after Bongard was convicted in March of other charges, and imposed sentences totaling six years on the new pleas to charges of misapplication of funds. Bongard, 47, had served nine months of the previous sentence.
