Ford is divesting its minority interest in South African Motor Corp. but will still sell parts to the company and allow it to use Ford’s name, the U.S. auto maker announced. Ford owns 42% of Samcor, which was formed two and a half years ago when Ford and Anglo American Corp. merged their South African auto operations. Ford plans to finish disposing of its Samcor interest by year’s end, said Ford Chairman Donald E. Petersen. Ford will donate 24% of Samcor to a trust controlled by employees and sell the other 18% to Anglo American.
